Search Dallam County Court Docket

A Dallam County court docket is the running record of a Texas court case, including filed items, settings, and outcomes. To search the Dallam County court docket, first identify whether the matter belongs to a district, county, justice, or city court. The right docket may reveal a case status or court date, while the clerk supplies official copies and confirms recent changes. Online coverage is useful but not complete. A careful Dallam County docket search therefore pairs the available public index with the court that keeps the original record.

Three Dallam Court Docket Layers

Three electronic layers handle three different jobs in Dallam County. iDocket serves as the locally identified route for case management and public information. eFileTexas is where parties and lawyers submit filings. For statewide searching of participating electronic records, re:SearchTX adds another layer. Keep in mind that filing a document, indexing a case, and showing a public image are three separate events.

SystemMain roleImportant limit

eFileTexasElectronic filingNot a complete public docket
re:SearchTXStatewide cases, filings, and hearingsCoverage and document access vary

Dallam appears on the mandatory list for civil and criminal e-filing, yet its search function is labeled “limited.” That label describes system integration, not whether a case exists.

What a Court Docket Shows

A docket is a dated index of activity. It may point to a filing or a signed order without displaying the document itself. The documented Dallam search fields fit this reading model, though no public sample shows every field appearing in every case.

Cause numberThe court's exact lookup key. No verified Dallam pattern is published.
Court and categorySeparates district, county, civil, criminal, family, and probate lanes.
Parties and attorneysHelps distinguish similar results, subject to privacy limits.
Case historyChronological filings, motions, orders, and settings.
SettingA scheduled event that may later change.
DispositionAn outcome event; the signed order supplies fuller meaning.

Never guess at a cause-number format. Copy it exactly from an official notice or result.

Dallam Court Docket Search Fields

The official iDocket help page documents three methods. Search by Name uses State, County, and Litigant, and a partial name is allowed. Display Case requires an exact case or cause number. Advanced Search adds Category, Case Type, Court, Litigant, Attorney, Filing Date, and Disposition Date. The older help described those last two methods as subscriber-only.

A redirect can appear if you lack a session or cookie. That is not a denial of access. Come back through the current vendor landing page, or call the Dallam County and District Clerk. Too many results? Narrow by court and date. No results at all? Check spelling, the city or justice-court lane, and the chance of restricted or older material. A portal miss does not prove that no Dallam County court docket exists.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Several offices keep Dallam County court records. The right one depends on the court, not just where an event took place. District and county records share a combined clerk office, but their dockets stay distinct.

Dallam Court Docket Geography

The 69th Judicial District covers Dallam, Hartley, Moore, and Sherman Counties. Its judge and coordinator are based at 715 South Dumas Avenue, Room 302, in Dumas. Even so, the local custodian of a Dallam district case is the Dallam County and District Clerk in Dalhart. That split explains a lot. A question about a setting and a request for a copy can end up at two different places.

For a district setting, ask the coordinator or local clerk. They can confirm the location and courtroom. Coordination from Dumas does not mean the record left Dallam County. Federal, municipal, and JP files sit elsewhere. Route those matters to the named court.

Best routing fact: confirm settings with the court, but request the Dallam district case record from the combined clerk in Dalhart.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

iDocket lists a “View Court Calendars” route. The Dallam County form there may not load when you try it. re:SearchTX offers a Hearings tab with filters and an export option. Neither tool promises a complete or current Dallam County court calendar. A setting can shift after a reset, a continuance, a cancellation, or a later order. Treat any docket entry as provisional.

When you note a hearing, write down the court, cause number, date, time, location, judge, and type of setting. Then confirm with the clerk shortly before the event. The Dallam County Court Calendar instructions walk through online, telephone, counter, and statewide routes. The courthouse posts no daily printed calendar archive and no public terminal policy. So ask at the clerk's counter before a trip.

Dallam Docket Terms in Plain Words

Short status labels can hide big distinctions. A docket event records procedure, not the whole story of a case.

Setting
A scheduled hearing, docket call, arraignment, plea, trial, or other event.
Reset
A replacement date. It does not mean dismissal.
Continuance
A delay ordered by the court or allowed under its procedure.
Disposition
An outcome event, such as dismissal, plea, judgment, or trial result.
Inactive
A status or aggregate reporting term, not necessarily a final judgment.

Read any label beside its date and court. If an outcome matters, get the signed order. Docket statistics use similar terms for court workload, but an aggregate “disposed” count is not one person's result.

Public Access to Dockets

Texas law favors access, but court case files, judicial administrative records, and county administrative records don't follow a single request rule. Start with the clerk who holds the case. Use Dallam County's written process for county department records when that fits the item.

Key Rules:

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 states the open-government policy and exceptions.

Texas judicial open-records policy explains why courts are not governed exactly like executive agencies.

Rule of Judicial Administration 12 addresses judicial records other than court case records.

Texas court rules include controls on sensitive data and sealed records.

A visible index doesn't make every document public. Juvenile, mental-health, family, and sealed material may be withheld or redacted.

Dallam Court Docket Courthouse History

The official county courthouse history places the active courthouse at 414 Denver Avenue in Dalhart. Dallam County was created in 1876. It was organized in 1891. Texline served as the first county seat. Railroad growth then shifted the civic center to Dalhart in 1903. Voters approved bonds in 1922. The Smith and Townes courthouse was finished in 1923. That official page shows the courthouse within its present civic context.

The building matters beyond its looks. It still houses the combined clerk who keeps Dallam County and district docket records. The Texas Historical Commission notes its dark brick, cast stone, Ionic columns, later annex, and accessibility work.

Dallam County Docket Workload

Workload figures can point you toward the right Dallam County docket search. The Justice of the Peace reports its own countywide docket. iDocket splits district and county matters by clerk system. Municipal counts come through by city. So a big number in one report does not mean those same cases sit in another database. Before reading anything into a figure, check the court named. Check the reporting year too. Ask what the count actually covers. It could be new filings, pending work, dispositions, or every indexed record.

For fiscal year 2025, the countywide Justice of the Peace logged 509 active pending matters at the start. It added 834 matters and disposed 892. Ending pending matters stood at 1,381. Civil and criminal workload fields are combined in those totals. Numbers show scale, not people.

iDocket counts indexed database records by category. They are not annual case totals, so do not add them to workload figures or compare the two as one measure. Neither source says anything about wrongdoing.

The Clerk and Docket Records

One combined County and District Clerk serves Dallam County. The county's constitutional clerk arrangement puts both court levels under a single office. Each lane stays distinct, though. County criminal, civil, and probate records sit alongside district filings, kept separate at the counter. The office works from the courthouse's second floor. The official clerk page lists its duties and contact details in full.

Dallam Court Docket Copy Requests

A docket entry and the filing behind it are two different products. When you order from the clerk, give the court level and cause number. Add the party style, document name, and filing or event date. Say the format you want. Ask whether it needs certification. Ask how delivery works, by mail, at the counter, or through an electronic source. A phone call can sort out the process. It may not count as a written request on its own.

The Dallam County open-records procedure takes county administrative requests by mail, fax, or in person. Each goes to the proper department. You must give enough detail to locate the record. You must also answer clarification questions and respond to a written cost estimate. It is a general county form, not a certified court-copy form. The clerk publishes no fee schedule, so request a quote rather than assuming a price.

Note: Ask which rule controls. Send no general county request for a court case document before you know.

No Dallam Court Docket Result

A blank docket search is not always a dead end. The miss could come from a spelling variation. It could also be the wrong court lane, an older unindexed file, a vendor redirect, or delayed integration. A sealed matter looks the same as no result. So does a city or JP record outside iDocket. Retry with a partial name only where the search allows it. Then compare the court and year. Do not dig for or publish sensitive data nobody needs.

Coverage starts at different points in each lane. On iDocket, county misdemeanors run from May 1980. County civil starts May 1983, and probate January 1980. District felony records begin February 1981. District civil starts January 1979, and family February 1982. Those are index starting points. Nothing there promises every case or image is online. The vendor warns a new-case index date can differ from the filing date inside a case.

  1. Check the legal spelling and name order.
  2. Separate District Court from County Court and select the right category.
  3. Use an exact cause number when known and access permits.
  4. Check the municipal or Justice of the Peace custodian.
  5. Call the clerk about indexed, archived, or restricted status.

re:SearchTX makes a strong second layer, above all for integrated civil filings and hearings. The Texas Judicial Council still describes it as incomplete as a statewide trial-court index.

Court Dockets by City in Dallam County

Dalhart and Texline are the two incorporated places named in official sources. Each municipal court keeps its own citation and ordinance records. Those sit apart from the county and district docket. The citation itself should name the responsible court. Use that court's portal or clerk. Do not send every local matter to the courthouse.
